Finally, I own an OSX notebook without having to spend much. =D. Yep, I installed OSX Leopard onto my notebook that is used for school purposes. Went through quite a lot of trouble for that. -.-
Notebook Specs:
Intel Core2 DUO 2.1Ghz
2GB RAM
160GB SATA 5400RPM HDD
ADI1981 Audio (SoundMAX on Windows)
Intel Wireless 3945BG
Broadcom 5785 LAN
I used iAtkos v4 install disc. After hours, no, days of fiddling with things, I finally got MOST of the stuff working. End result:
Looks nice right? I’m in love with my OSX now. =D.
I partitioned my hard disk to be:
—————————
[ XP | OSX ]
—————————
Then, insert the iAtkos disc and boot the installation. Formatted the OSX partition to HFS+ and then tick the options needed (e.g. SpeedStep Kernel) and then install. Installation took about 10-15mins. Then, the machine rebooted and boot into the OSX partition. Installation not over yet, now, I need to install drivers for devices that didn’t work out of the box.
Firstly, the wireless. It’s very unfortunate that Intel 3945G Wireless isn’t working on OSX; there are no drivers yet. As for my ethernet, there is a driver for it, but, it’s not perfect. In fact, it’s not working at all. Hence, I got myself a Belkin FD8053N adaptor. I grab the driver from the net and install it. Wireless works nicely with RALINK wireless tool provided with the driver.
Next, I searched high and low for my built in sound card driver. Wasn’t hard to install but was quite hard to find out the exact device id for my sound card. Sound works fine after that BUT, there’s not Mic In and the Headphone jack doesn’t work. ):
My card reader doesn’t work out of the box. After researching, I found out that it was because OSX didn’t know about the card bus (pcmcia, express slot etc.). Luckily, someone put in effort to modify some kext to make it work. Now, my card reader works flawlessly. =D.
Stuffs like Bluetooth and the volume touchpad for my notebook works fine OTB. But, there was one more problem, there wasn’t scrolling for my synaptic trackpad. So, after a search through insanelymac forum, I found the 2 Finger Scroll hack. Works fine after modifying the settings. In fact, it works nice. =)
Things not working for the notebook: the input/output sound jacks, Ethernet, (no idea about modem), didn’t test express slot and.. there’s a weird problem with webcam… Photo Booth and iChat doesn’t like it but.. it works fine with CamTwist. It’s a Suyin webcam btw.
Well, for now, I’m satisfied with the Leopard. Here is a link to download the drivers/kext/hack I used. All thanks to the insanelymac community and the respective driver creators. I take no credit for it. The file is only meant for mirror-ing purpose. I suggest you search for the corresponding thread/page with proper instructions to install the file. Zip contains: 2fingerscroll.zip, ALPS_Glidepad_Driver.pkg.zip, FFScroll-0.7.dmg, AppleAzaliaAudioADI1981, IOPCCardFamily_chunnan_Leopard_rev8.zip and BCM57XX.zip.
Hope you guys out there found this post useful! I’m still waiting for 3945 wireless driver and to get full audio support. (:

Thanks,
Is it be possible to pull out the current wireless card and put a different one in?
Also
I used the Atkios Install (10.5.1) formatted as MBR but it needed the CD to boot. can you put a few more details in your blog.
